- Sofa Toppers are available with either a fixed or a removable cover.Â
- A fixed cover is quilted to the filling with stylish pin-tucks and is non-removable.
- A fixed cover is wipe clean. Remove fur, dirt and stains with a damp cloth and/or mild detergent.Â
- A removable cover has no pin-tucks and a zip along the length of one side.
- A removable cover is wipe-clean and can also be placed in the washing machine.Â
- Sofa Toppers should not require full washing. They are made from stain, moisture and odour resistant fabrics
- Sofa Toppers are designed to be brushed and/or hoovered and wiped clean with a damp cloth and/or detergent.
- We understand that some dogs are just a little dirtier and/or smellier than the average. We also understand that some customers prefer to fully wash items that dogs are using. In both cases, we recommend you choose a removable cover for your Sofa Topper.Â
- We recommend you measure your sofa prior to purchase.Â
- To measure the length of your sofa, simply place a tape measure across your sofa seat between the two sofa arms and measure the distance from the inside of one arm to the inside of the other arm. The Sofa Topper should fit snugly between the two arms.
- To measure the width of your sofa, simply place a tape measure from the back of your sofa seat to the front edge of your sofa seat.
- If your sofa is between sizes, we recommend sizing down. Sofa Toppers are not designed to be tucked into the sides of your sofa.Â

- Sofa Toppers are made from stain, moisture and odour resistant fabrics, designed to be both practical and durable.Â
- A soft hand brush or light vacuum will keep your Sofa Topper free from loose fur and dirt. Â
- Wipe-clean with a soft cloth to remove any light stains.Â
- Cleaning with a damp sponge and mild detergent is effective for treating more stubborn stains or spills.Â
- If you have a Sofa Topper with a removable cover, you can place the cover in your washing machine on a 30-degree cycle with a gentle spin and dry naturally.

I have just received the second pair of toppers, the first two in taupe are so wonderful we had to have more. This time I chose the glorious turmeric coloured velvet and I am thrilled with the colour (on the dark blue velvet sofas they look amazing!)
The whippets love them so now we have no need for the fur throws…hurrah.
I just need more sofas so I can order the peony velvet!

Last year, I bought a Sofa Topper in slate velvet to protect my sofa from the muddy paws of my lurcher. I have tried throws and blankets and other sofa protectors before and they have all been a faff to use or ugly or both. Then I came across The Lounging Hound. I was a bit sceptical about how tough velvet could be, but I thought it was worth a try. I am so glad I did. The Topper is wonderful. The material is luxurious, and so easy to keep clean. It stays put on the sofa and doesn’t need constant tucking in or rearranging, it looks great, and best of all it is so very comfortable to sit (or lounge) on. It has given the sofa a new lease of life.
I have just ordered another Topper in turmeric in a bespoke size for different sofa. I would definitely recommend The Lounging Hound to anyone with a dog, or a sofa!
